The fall semester is in full swing in Norman, Okla. and this is my last semester as an undergraduate student, since I will graduate with my bachelor’s degree in online journalism in December.
I have just finished a summer internship with E.K. Scripps Company at the Naples Daily News where I was published on the front page of the paper at least once a week and collaborated on multimedia projects for naplesnews.com. Click here to check out my work.
I am currently doing freelance work for various organizations throughout the Oklahoma. Video editing and production, writing, Web site design and interactive components are included among the projects I am currently working on.
Prior to my summer in Florida, I worked for a semester as the multimedia editor for our college newspaper Web site, oudaily.com. During my time there I more than doubled the multimedia staff and nearly tripled the multimedia content on the site.
During the fall semester of 2008 I was a multimedia intern at The Oklahoman where I learned about feature writing, collaboration in a modern-day newsroom and working with designers, writers, photographers and videographers to create news packages.
I am looking for the perfect first job out of college to kick start what is sure to be an exciting career in digital journalism.
One day I hope to be an online editor for a digital news organization. I love multimedia and everything that it entails. It’s an exciting new way to experience news and it may be just what journalism needs.
I love to write about people. Features are a lot of fun, but I have always been curious and full of questions and I am fascinated with different cultures. Not to mention traveling is a passion of mine. So far I have only made it to a few of the many places I dream about, but I have my whole life to make it around the world.
